14 How the Bible Respects Women

Leviticus 12 (New International Version, ©2011)

Purification after Childbirth

1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 “Say to the Israelites: ‘A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. 3 On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. 4Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. 5 If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding.

6 “‘When the days of her purification for a son or daughter are over, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance to the tent of meeting a year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a dove for a sin offering. 7 He shall offer them before the LORD to make atonement for her, and then she will be ceremonially clean from her flow of blood.

“‘These are the regulations for the woman who gives birth to a boy or a girl. 8 But if she cannot afford a lamb, she is to bring two doves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for her, and she will be clean.’”

That's the Old Covenant ways, Aris. I thank God because Jesus is the new lamb. And that's the New Covenant. Happy Easter!

These vile things are present in your Bible, and you as a devout Christian shouldn't downplay them as insignificant just because there were better things after them.

That's just like admitting that these "Old Covenant ways" are not morally justified.

Enjoy the rest of your easter.

[These vile things are present in your Bible, and you as a devout Christian shouldn't downplay them as insignificant just because there were better things after them.]

That's true. But is it truly vile? Isn't it just a double standard on Christian's side?

[That's just like admitting that these "Old Covenant ways" are not morally justified.]

How can you say it's immoral then? Here's a simple analogy for you. If you are an owner of a pot. You can do anything with the pot isn't it? Let's say you're the god and the pot is the man.

[Enjoy the rest of your easter.]

[It's vile, I don't need to explain why - it's a no-brainer. If you don't think it is, then you're an anti-feminist asshole.]

It's an argument of silence huh? And it's a false dichotomy too. You're the one who is fund of saying "use critical thinking" repeatedly but where did your critical thinking gone?

[Am I not allowed to explore this matter from different perspectives? I assess these matters objectively, unlike you.]

Oh, so being objective has been brought down by being an observer at one time and one perspective only? Oh, I see. So being objective now is being biased. I see, Aris. HE HE HE

[God can do anything to us because he is the God? Isn't that tyranny?]

And is tyranny applicable to God? Is man-made concept like tyranny can now be used to God. Oh, I see. You think you're some kind of god by that standard.

The Bible (or religion, for that matter) is a very broad subject, and you are sure to hit a sore spot every time that is the topic. All I can say is we should respect each others' opinions.

Calm down, boys. Nothing wrong with playful banter, but keep it at that. ;-)

What's really annoying, ate J, is that some people like arvin, persistently heckle here in my blogsite. It's not like I am forcing my opinions to anybody.

Usually, they know that this blog has the tendency to be overtly expressive and what's usually posted is not in-line with their opinion on life or religion BUT they come back and disrupt the atmosphere just to indoctrinate their own personal claims on matters. How egocentric is that??

I, on the other hand, blog to make a point; NOT to argue.

It's not like I am forcing to change your opinion. If that's your opinion, so be it. But how can you say that? Did I imply that you're forcing your opinions to anybody?

[Usually, they know that this blog has the tendency to be overtly expressive and what's usually posted is not in-line with their opinion on life or religion]

That's true. But what's wrong when I question that opinion? Isn't that the true knowledge comes from within?

[BUT they come back and disrupt the atmosphere just to indoctrinate their own personal claims on matters. How egocentric is that??]

Oh, so that's why. So your opinion is the one that must only be respected because it is the only one that can be said on this blog.

See, ate J? The comment wasn't even addressed to that anti-intelligence inbred worm yet it can't stop itself from commenting. What mental mayhem it must be going through... Pathetic.

I know it is not addressed to me. However, what's wrong with that? Won't you just stop ignoring my comments for you and just answer it instead?

Hi Arvin!

Can't you see that you're as unwelcome as an old fart here? Just go away, please... Shoo.

Bye, anti-intelligence inbred worm! ;)

I hope you're always joking on me. :D

Oh, I have a suggestion. If you have time, would you examine St. Thomas Aquinas' "Summa Theologica" and blog about it. :)
